The S.C. Health Care Association has released a video in the hopes of convincing people that expanding Medicaid is a good idea for South Carolina. In part, they've said it will be good for the economy, providing 44,000 new jobs and billions in economic activity.
It's the same reason a coalition of health care groups were in Columbia last week, urging state leaders to approve the expansion. Gov. Haley has already said she doesn't support it, but the decision will ultimately be up to the legislature, which should decide this year. If you want more context, I suggest reading Cindi Scoppe's good work from June, in which she broke down the numbers involved and what they would actually mean to our state.
