We're in the middle of finalizing the editorial board's focus for the coming year, highlighting specific areas we will concentrate our efforts this year. We do it every year (see 2010, 2011, 2012, for instance) and in the past we've focused on policy areas such as public education, as well as more abstract ideas such as long-term planning or sustainability. Some topics are perennial favorites. We love to focus on open government and accountability, for instance. But others can shift or change from year to year.
Any suggestions? Transportation? Rebuilding? Getting back to basics? Public safety? Jobs?
As always, news intrudes and we certainly won't stick to just the four or five areas we identify, but they will shape our editorial choices and help us decide what to write about and what to put off. What's top of your mind? And what calls out for not only coverage in the paper, but coverage with an opinion?
