Watkins Glen workings

A few ins and outs about Sunday's race at Watkins Glen:

*Watching Juan Pablo Montoya and Kevin Harvick 'scuffle' on the track made me laugh. Reminded me of when Danica Patrick stomped down pit road last year after another poor finish. All looked like children out there.

*Tony Stewart is good. He keeps getting lucky, watch out on the Chase. I think the race will be between him and Jeff Gordon.

*Dale Earnhardt Jr. has no chance of making the Chase. Kurt Busch is too good of a driver to screw this up. He'll be conservative and work his way in. Junior needs to go for broke, but has just been breaking engines.

*I was disappointed to here Earnhardt Jr.'s crew chief say "if we make the Chase we do. If we don't, we don't.' Sounds like he's given up and a year of turmoil is getting to him.

I was not surprised to hear Juniors crew chief say, "Our motor blowed up, " Haha, that totally made my day.

I like jr. but that team is overrated. it isn't necessarily that jr. is taking himself out of races, it seems to be mechanical or bad luck. a tire goes down or an engine is blown. his chance for the chase is over unless busch gets caught cheating or goes on an expletive-laced tirade on tv. On a side-note, sadly the only driver he beat sunday was k. petty. :(
I wouldn't mind seeing a little fisticuffs on the track, but when the two keep their helmets on, it's a sign that neither is willing to get their butt kicked on national tv.
As much as I don't like him, Stewart may be the man to beat in the chase. He is on fire right now. Nothing can stop him except maybe Gordon and his impatience.

I was shocked by the whole interview with Earnhardt Jr.'s crew chief on Sunday. I swear I heard him say that they are a top 5 team every week. After listening to him Sunday Jr should just leave him at DEI and see what HMS sets him up with for next year. I think most fans of NASCAR would admit that HMS does a good job of pairing up driver and crew chief with a good success rate.

By the way if the jerking of the heads fight would have become a true knock out drag out fight my money would have been on JPM to win.

I would love to see Gordon and Stewart battle for this year's championship. It would be like the glory days of the Celtics/Lakers. Two great competitors leaving everything on the track.

Sorry to post twice in a row but I forgot:

BTW to your first point Kurt neither of them looked as good as Danica Patrick. I think maybe that Happy Harvick and Patrick may have the same dress size. Harvick is PO'ed at JPM for the same things that many NA$CAR drivers were PO'ed at Harvick for when he took over for Dale Sr.

this is simple about earnhadt jr. he should use 83 talk about making money on a number 8 for his number that he can't get and 3 for his father. same shape and design as before his first jersey would be red on half and black on other, he would make a fortune
