Three incumbents facing challengers for their seats on Horry County Council were leading Tuesday night with more than 95 percent of precincts reporting. But Democratic Councilman Marion Foxworth's lead had narrowed to 91 votes of 9,447 cast, preliminary results showed.
In District 3, Foxworth lead with 48.7 percent of the vote compared to 47.7 percent for Republican Keith Van Winkle. Write-in candidates, including Carolina Forest resident Tony McDonald, garnered 3.6 percent.
In District 6, Republican Councilman Bob Grabowski had garnered 56.6 percent of the vote, leading Democrat James Millward, who had 33 percent, and Constitution Party candidate Matt Jarfi, who had 10.4 percent.
In District 9, Republican Paul Prince had received 53.5 percent of the vote. Democratic challenger Ulysses DeWitt had gotten 46.5 percent.
