So close yet so far away
As I watched the debate at Underdog's in Little River, I couldn't help but wonder: what was it that I did to be this far away from something so close? (Those who keep up with these posts may had read my last one about tmz.com... maybe I should stay off that site more and focus on my job!)
As I set up my laptop at the second-story pub, I couldn't help but realize I was sitting among ivy. Draping ivy. The type of ivy only found in one place (or so I thought): Wrigley Field. Large yellow numbers painted on a mock brick wall... ah, the place I called home for the first 19 years of my life.
The irony of sitting in the "Wrigley Field" section watching two Illinoisians (don't argue with me about Hillary!) and a Carolinian (of which I proudly call myself now) made me realize I have more of a connection in this race than I thought. And just how would I have gotten to that realization had I been assigned to the restrictive (yet understandable) media red tape at The Palace Theatre?
Combine the great food and the friendly folks of the North Strand Democrats, I thought to myself, I couldn't have had a better seat in the area!
