Area player is finalist for Mr. Football
For the second consecutive year Myrtle Beach will be represented among the finalists for South Carolina's Mr. Football. Seahawks reciever Jamere Valentine follows former linebacker Bruce Taylor as one of the eight finalists for the award, given since 1995 to standout seniors players who exhibit scholarship, leadership and on- and off-field character.
Former Myrtle Beach quarterback J.D. Melton (2004) is the only area player to win the award.
Joining Valentine as finalists this year are: South Pointe athlete Stephon Gilmore, West Florence defensive end Maliciah Goodman, Sumter tailback Roderick McDowell, Northwestern athlete Jarrett Neely, Calhoun County quarterback David Sims, Greenwood defensive back D.J. Swearinger and Timberland offensive lineman Quinton Washington.
Valentine has scored a school-record 30 touchdowns this year, 19 through the air and 11 on the ground. He has 79 catches for 1,228 yards, and 52 rushes for 207 yards. The 6-foot-2, 200 pounder averages 149.4 all-purpose yards per game.

Great job Jamere(: Everyone is proud of you; I really am. You have been doing a great job. Not only in football, but basketball to. keep up thr good work. Make a smart choice in what you go to. So you van do your thing in football & basketball. good luck with the rest of the season!!(:
