Football playoff links of interest
I thought I would pass on some links of interest regarding the opponents of the four area teams left in the state football playoffs. These are from other newspapers. Click below for the links.
I can't find anything from the Greenville News on Laurens - Conway's opponent in the Class AAAA, Division II quarterfinals - but here is a link to the game recap for the school's first-round win over North Augusta.
Here are two stories from the Sumter Item, which covers Crestwood - Myrtle Beach's host in the Class AAA Lower State semifinals. The first includes an interesting quote from Crestwood defensive lineman Travis McConico. When asked about Seahawks quarterback Everett Golson, he says "He's an athlete, but he's still wet behind the ears. We'll get pressure on him." The second mostly includes Myrtle Beach coach Scott Earley praising Crestwood's athleticism.
Here are two stories from the Lexington (N.C.) Dispatch, which covers Lexington (N.C.) - South Columbus's (N.C.) opponent in the second round of the N.C. Class 2-A playoffs. The Yellow Jackets (having played them in high school, their colors are blue and orange with no yellow) have one person to thank for saving the day in their first-round win. Also, that newspaper's writer is hoping for a Lexington win.
Here is one story from the Florence Morning News, which covers Lamar - Carvers Bay's opponent in the Class A, Division I Lower State championship. The story previews Friday's battle.
josh there you go again stirrin the pot and carryin your boy OUT-EARLEYS baggage...you took both quotes out of context...but dont worry that little piece you did on THE BEST PREP QB you have ever seen is on the walls at CRESTWOOD...and i dont think they liked OUT-EARLEYS statement that CRESTWOOD runs a "PHONE BOOTH" OFFENSE...that he dosent have to because he has athletes...lethim try and hang a maxi-pad on lineman TRAVIS MCCONICOS helmet...i bet he would have to eat it...
