Myrtle Beach receiver Jamere Valentine can add another postseason award to a resume that was already overflowing with honors. Valentine has been named to the Orlando Sentinel's 90th All-Southern football team, which recognizes the best players from 12 states in the South. Only 11 players from each state are named to the illustrious team, and one is them is named that state's Player of the Year.
South Pointe's Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina's Mr. Football, is the Palmetto state's Player of the Year. Valentine, who had more than 1,500 receiving yards and scored 32 total touchdowns, is joined on the South Carolina team by Byrnes tailback Marcus Lattimore, West Florence defensive end Malliciah Goodman, Timberland tailback Rockarius King, Northwestern receiver Jarrett Neely, Sumter tailback Roderick McDowell, Calhoun County quarterback David Sims, Christ Church offensive lineman J.K. Jay, Timberland offensive lineman Quinton Washington and Byrnes defensive lineman Brandon Willis.
Valentine was named The Sun News' Toast of the Coast Offensive Player of the Year and was a consensus All-South Carolina selection by The State newspaper and the Associated Press.
