Four from area named North-South wrestling all-stars

Four area wrestling standouts will participate in next month's newly formatted S.C. Wrestling Coaches Association North-South All-Star Classic. Loris' Maurice Morris and Terrence Cox, Myrtle Beach's Caleb Desjardins and North Myrtle Beach's Taylor Collins received invites to the event, which will be held March 5-7 in North Myrtle Beach.

The all-star weekend is undergoing its third major overhaul since it was created by Brookland-Cayce's John Checkovich in 1989.

This year, three teams were chosen from South Carolina. A group of 14 wrestlers comprises an all-South Carolina team, which includes the state's most talented individuals. North and South teams were then chosen from the remaining pool of seniors.

The South Carolina team will wrestle against a group of Georgia all-stars on Friday, March 6 at 7:45 p.m.. That match will be preceeded by the North and South all-star teams meeting in a dual match. The matches will be held at North Myrtle Beach High School.
