High school basketball takes center stage in the area with the Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic and the North-South Senior All-Star Game here this week.
The games will hold their slam dunk and 3-point shooting contests on Friday night with the games on Saturday.
The Carolinas Classic will hold its dunk and 3-point contest at Myrtle Beach High School beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. The Carolinas Classic all-star game will be at Socastee High School on Saturday with the girls game at 6:30 p.m. and the boys at 8:30 p.m.
The North-South dunk and 3-point contests begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the games are Saturday with the girls at 11 a.m. and the boys at 2 p.m. All of the North-South events will be at North Myrtle Beach High School.
Both all-star events feature three area players.
In the North-South event, Myrtle Beach forward Chris Gore and Aynor guard Marcus Smith are on the boys South team, while Andrews' Natia Gasque is on the girls South squad.
In the Carolinas Classic, Carolina Forest's Lakeitha Alston and Danielle Hennessey will be on the girls team while Georgetown's Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard will be on the boys team.
