Myrtle Beach gets some national exposure

Six Myrtle Beach football players participated in high school football combines last weekend. Most notably, quarterback Everett Golson threw in a regional Elite 11 quarterback camp on Friday. The camp was for quarterabacks, but Seahawks receivers Alex Holloman and Donte Sumpter, both rising juniors, and Tramond Wilson, a rising sophomore, served as part of the receiving corps for the top-rated quarterbacks and apparently didn't do too bad themselves

Those four Seahawks plus tight end James Power and cornerback Khiry Watts then took part in a Nike combine on Saturday. Both combines were at the University of Georgia in Athens.

All but Watts earns a mention on stories about the combines at ESPN.com. And Myrtle Beach coach Mickey Wilson said he saw Watts play some and thought he did pretty well.

But based on the ESPN stories, Golson impressed most in attendance. Check out the story links below. The first two links are to the Elite 11 stories (for one guy's appraisal of Golson, check out the second Elite 11 link, it is pretty flattering for Golson to get that type of praise) and the last two are to the Nike story (first one is offense and the second one is defense). Along with the Myrtle Beach people, there are plenty of references to other South Carolina high school players along with South Carolina and Clemson recruits.
