Socastee boys soccer standouts named to all-star team

Socastee forward Justin Watson and midfielder Bobby Belair have been selected for the 2009 Clash ofthe Carolinas high school soccer all-star event, the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association announced.

Watson and Belair were named to the South Carolina boys team, and were the only area players selected for the event. Click for full rosters.

The event pits some of the top players from South Carolina and North Carolina in both a boys and girls game with 18 players named to each team. This year's event will be held Saturday, July 11, at Daniel Island's Blackbaud Stadium - home of the USL First Division Charleston Battery.

According to a release from scsoccer.com, the Clash, in its third year, is the only interstate soccer all-star rivalry of its kind in the nation. The boys series is at 0-0-2 and the girls series is at 1-1-0.
