A closer look: Myrtle Beach Seahawks football

Head coach: Mickey Wilson, Myrtle Beach

On any changes that will be noticeable to fans since taking over for Scott Earley:

``Scheme-wise, there won't be much difference. We will base our defense out of the 4-3. Offensively, we will be exactly the same, we are going to throw as much as we can. The one place you might see a small difference is in special teams.''

RECRUITING NEWS:
``We have a lot of juniors that are going to have a chance to be recruited I think,'' Wilson said.

>>The most notable junior recruit for the Seahawks is quarterback Everett Golson, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds,
Wilson said right now, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are the only two definites on Golson's list.
``I would say right now that is probably his two,'' Wilson said. ``I don't know if there is anybody else. As far as showing interest, everybody is interested. I am sure that list will probably grow.''
Wilson noted how for most kids the recruiting process was just beginning at this point in their junior season, but for Golson, who has been widely heralded for the past two seasons, the process feels like it is further along, although that is not necessarily the case. Wilson also said he believes Golson will allow the recruiting process to play out through his senior season, but potentially Golson could make a college decision sooner.

>>Senior linebacker/tight end Steven Cobb (6-2, 190) is getting looks from the likes of Georgia Southern and Appalachian State.

>>Senior wide receiver (or as Wilson described him, a jack-of-all-trades) Morgan Byrd (5-11, 170) is drawing some interest from small schools.

>>Senior kicker Jordan Butler (5-11, 165) is getting looked at by some bigger schools, but Wilson said he doesn't have any official offers. That's not surprising for a kicker at this point in the process. Schools will wait to see where they are with other positions before adding a scholarship kicker. Butler will likely end up at a major Division I program.

>>Junior offensive lineman Jason Rexroad (6-5, 260) transferred to Myrtle Beach from North Myrtle Beach following the death of his mother in January. His size and athleticism makes him very attractive to recruiters. He has a chance to end up at a major FBS school as well.

>>Wilson also said junior defensive tackle Erving Brown and junior running back DaQuan Ford would likely draw looks from colleges.
``They have received a little bit of interest, but it is kind of just starting for those two,'' Wilson said. ``But eventually I think they will get some looks.''

>>James Power, 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, committed to Marshall University recently. Power, a senior offensive lineman for the Seahawks this season, is expected to play tight end and long snapper at Marshall.
