A closer look: Socastee Braves football

Head coach: Tim Renfrow, Socastee

On any changes to expect this season:

>>``We pretty much will be doing the same stuff. There will be some good position battles on the offensive line. That is probably our biggest battles.
``We are going to run the one back with double wings, and the [I formation] some.''

On the team's offensive backfield, which returns mostly intact:
``(Quarterback) Zack Elliman has worked hard. He is going to have that year's experience, which is good. But we will have to see how much he has improved.
``We also have Jake Fullwood back at fullback and P.J. Brave back at halfback.''

On the team's expectations for the season:
>>``We feel like we have a lot of experience back, and we feel like we can be successful. Now whatever that means, I don't know.''

A LITTLE EXTRA:
The Braves return seven starters on offense and seven starters on defense.

RECRUITING NEWS:
>>Renfrow said senior safety/split end Stoan Waldroup (6-2, 190, 4.5 40 speed) has some BCS schools looking at him. ``If he has a good year, he is going to get talked to by some good people,'' Renfrow said.

>>Elliman, a 6-foot, 180-pound senior, has drawn some interest from some FCS schools.
