Weekly prep writers poll (Sept. 28)

Here is the weekly prep writers poll. Myrtle Beach and Carvers Bay are still the only teams to be ranked, but Loris now has five points in Class AA and getting closer to the top 10. Myrtle Beach stayed exactly the same while Carvers Bay fell to sixth in Class A after its loss to Hemingway.

Updated high school football recap (Sept. 25-28)

Seven of the 11 area games were completed Friday night with two finished Saturday and two more played entirely Monday. I have updated the following post to include everything through the three days of action.

Friday night pick'em: Week 5

This is a pretty good rivalry week. Myrtle Beach-Conway is obviously the highlight but Carvers Bay-Hemingway and West Brunswick-South Brunswick are fierce rivals and even Socastee-Carolina Forest is a pretty good one.

Weekly prep writers poll (Sept. 21)

Here is the weekly prep writers poll. Myrtle Beach and Carvers Bay are the only teams to be ranked and Loris got two points in Class AA, but they are not in the top 10. Myrtle Beach's win over Hartsville knocked the previously unbeaten Red Foxes right out the AAAA rankings. Carvers Bay moved up to No. 2 after Calhoun County, who had been No. 2, had an unimpressive win last weekend.

Friday night highlights

Thought I would throw a new format out there. I have listed some of Friday night's top offensive performers and then added just a few comments about some of the games. I didn't throw any defensive performers in the list because I don't have a lot of defensive stats this soon after the game, but if I left anyone off that you think should be on there, give them a mention in the comments section.

Friday night pick'em: Week 4

Well, last week went pretty well. I recovered from the 4-6 week to go 10-0 last week straight up. Probably the biggest surprise was Johnsonville over Georgetown and Marion's easy victory over North Myrtle Beach.
