Random thoughts from Friday:
>>Bravo Braves: Sounds like Socastee-Hilton Head was a great game, especially if you are a Braves fan. Zack Elliman made a ton of plays, the defense held down Hilton Head's passing attack and Andrew Musgrove got redemption just after he was on the hook to become the goat. Not bad for a first-round playoff game, but the Braves better enjoy the feeling because next week they travel to Marlboro County. They will need all of Friday night's magic and a lot more to pull off that upset.
>>Has Conway done enough?: The Tigers are almost definitely in and they probably won't be the final seed. Socastee's win boosted Conway point total by one significant point because now the Braves have a winning record which helps Conway, who beat Socastee during the regular season. It's hard to say where the Tigers will play, but it will be at someone pretty good. Freshman Mykal Moody had a huge game against Carolina Forest. It is going to be exciting to watch him develop. Remember when Everett Golson emerged as a force in his freshman season and now he is a national high school star/ Moody could do the same things, but his game is very different from Golson. Moody does as much if not more damage with his legs. That will help Conway win a lot of games in the future.
>>Annual rematch is on?: Carvers Bay was able to hold off a tough St. John's squad and Hemingway won its rematch with Johnsonville to set up the annual rematch down in Hemingway. Carvers Bay lost 7-6 to Hemingway during the regular season in a game that was halted at halftime due to severe weather and resumed the next day. Hemingway drove 90+ yards in the final five minutes and scored with less than 10 seconds left. The difference in that game was the field goal kickers. Carvers Bay couldn't make its extra point and Hemingway's rookie kicker nailed the winning extra-point kick. It should be another great game between the two schools.
