Carolina Forest at Conway basketball still on, other area games off

Only one high school basketball matchup on the local schedule for tonight will go on as scheduled. The winter storm that is moving into the area has forced the remaining schools to either postpone or cancel their contests.

>>The Carolina Forest boys and girls will play at Conway beginning with the girls game at 6 p.m. The boys game will be at 7:30 p.m.

>>Carvers Bay's games at Hemingway set for tonight haven been canceled. The Carvers Bay girls team did not qualify for the postseason.

The Carvers Bay boys team had already clinched second place in Region VIII-A and Hemingway had locked up the top spot. The Bears boys team finished the regular season 14-5 and 8-3 in the region. They will open the Class A playoffs at home against Lamar at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

>>Green Sea Floyds' games against Creek Bridge have been rescheduled for Saturday. The Trojans girls will play at 1 p.m. Saturday with the boys game at 2:30 p.m. The Trojans boys team (13-6, 6-5 Region VIII-A) will take third in the region with a win, but could fall out of the playoffs altogether if they were to be blown out by Creek Bridge.

The Green Sea Floyds girls team has already been eliminated from the postseason.

>>The South Columbus (N.C.) at West Brunswick (N.C.) games have been canceled. West Brunswick will open the Waccamaw Conference tournament next week with the girls team hosting Whiteville (N.C.) at 6 p.m. Monday and the boys team playing at North Brunswick (N.C.) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
