The rosters for the 13th annual Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic have been announced.
The game features 40 of the top high school boys and girls senior basketball players from North Carolina and South Carolina. Although, the rosters sent out seem a little light. The North Carolina boys squad has just eight players listed while two of the other three teams only have nine. So I am sure the rosters will be adjusted some before the game gets here. There are no local players on any of the teams this year. Last year, Lakeitha Alston and Danielle Hennessey from Carolina Forest were on the S.C. girls team while Kindard Gadsden-Gilliard of Georgetown was on the S.C. boys team.
North Carolina swept both games in 2009 with the girls winning 111-77 and the boys rolling to a 106-82 victory.
The three-day event, which also includes a banquet and a dunk and 3-point shooting contest, is set for March 18-20 and the game on March 20 will be at Socastee High School for the second consecutive year.
Players are initially nominated by their coaches, but final selections are made by officials from both the South Carolina and North Carolina Coaches’ Association.
