Mingo Bay baseball tournament schedule affected by rain

Rain played havoc with Monday's games in the Mingo Bay Classic, forcing games to be postponed or stopped by rain that rolled through the area Monday evening.

While most opening games were completed, the second games at six of the eight host sites featuring area teams will be played or resumed today.

At Myrtle Beach, the Seahawks led Morgantown (W.Va.) 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth when the rain started. That game will be continued at 3:15 p.m. today.

Socastee's game against Fairmont (W.Va.) was scoreless in the bottom of the first inning when it was called. That game will be resumed at 2 p.m. today.

Games that were rained out include: North Myrtle Beach vs. Dunkirk, St. James vs. Gar-Field, Union County vs. Aynor, South County vs. Berea and Osbourn vs. Carolina Forest.

Conway was able to get its game in, defeating Johnsonville 7-1, and Loris lost 11-1 to Elkins (W.Va.).

Only one early game was postponed. South County vs. Berea at Aynor was rescheduled for Wednesday.
