Georgetown's Cox picked for softball showcase

Georgetown softball player Logan Cox has been invited to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South at Winthrop University on Sept. 3-4.

The fast-pitch softball showcase holds a South and North event, and selects participants from submitted applications from the players. According to a press release from the organization, more than 2,000 softball players apply and 264 are picked to participate.

Cox is a rising senior for the Bulldogs. She pitches and plays second base for Georgetown and in the summer for the Carolina Express Gold. As a junior, Cox was a Class AAA All-State selection and pitched a six-inning perfect game. She went 14-7 on the mound with 183 strikeouts and five shutouts. At the plate, Cox hit .412 with 12 triples, 14 doubles and 21 RBIs.
