Several rivalry games are on tap this week. Georgetown at Carvers Bay and Loris at North Myrtle Beach standout, but St. James-Waccamaw has become a good annual matchup the last few seasons and everyone wants to knock off Myrtle Beach, including former region rival Carolina Forest.
I think the most intriguing matchup though is Conway's visit to Summerville. The Tigers are out to prove they are back and a win over the Green Wave would be a big statement. Summerville is No. 8 in AAAA in rankings on MaxPreps.com, but it hasn't played a game yet. The Tigers have looked solid on defense and that should continue, but can they put up enough points to keep it close? Summerville won this game 41-6 last season at Conway. The Tigers scored 56 against Carolina Forest and 41 against Socastee last season, but outside of those two games, they never scored more than 27 in any other game. They will likely need at least that to be in the game tonight, and more to win. I don't think Conway is back enough to win on John McKissick's turf, but they should be a lot more competitive.
