Carolina Forest hosts Conway in what is sure to be an emotional night for the Panthers. I actually have dealt with a very similar experience.
My sophomore season of high school football, an assistant coach for my high school died in a car accident during the season. It was on a Saturday, so we had to go through the visititaion and funeral during the week leading up to our next game. The events pertaining to my coach's death were very hard to deal with as a high school student, but in reality, the easiest time of the week was when we were playing football.
I think Carolina Forest will play a little above themselves tonight, simply because it is the only time they have to not dwell on their coach's death. What it will do is embed that coach's memory in their head forever. I still remember the last time I heard my coach's voice, and I still remember where I was when I heard about it and how the week went afterwards. Some kids have dealth with death before this, but a lot haven't. It's not an easy experience.
