Area shows well in preseason soccer rankings

The South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association released its 2011 preseason rankings on Friday and the Grand Strand was well represented in the polls.

The preseason rankings for the 2011 high school baseball season were released Friday by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association and only two area teams earned preseason mention.

Postponed games find new dates

Most area high school basketball games that were postponed Monday and Tuesday have been rescheduled.

All of Tuesday's area high school basketball games postponed

All area high school basketball games scheduled for Tuesday night were postponed due to weather-related school closings. Horry and Georgetown county schools were in class Tuesday, but every area team was scheduled to play an opponent outside of the area, and each of those schools were out Tuesday.

Myrtle Beach's Golson, Rexroad "sign" with respective colleges

There was no drama, no last-second cap-switching and no restless college fan bases involved with this morning's college football signings at Myrtle Beach High School.

Former Seahawk quarterback Everett Golson and offensive lineman Jason Rexroad participated in a mostly for-show ceremony in the school's auditorium to signify their commitments to their respective colleges of choice. Golson, the record-setting signal-caller, is headed to Notre Dame; Rexroad is off to Middle Tennessee State. Each signed pieces of paper printed out by coach Mickey Wilson with their upcoming school's logos.
