St. James No. 2 in AAA preseason baseball rankings

The preseason rankings for the 2011 high school baseball season were released Friday by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association and only two area teams earned preseason mention.

St. James will open the season ranked second in Class AAA while Region VIII-AAA rival Myrtle Beach is tied for 10th in Class AAA. Brookland-Cayce, which ended St. James’ season in 2010 in the Lower State bracket, is the No. 1 team in AAA.

Byrnes is No. 1 in AAAA, Chesnee tops the AA poll and Lewisville is No. 1 in Class A.
