Myrtle Beach girls basketball's Wilson named North-South All Star

The North-South All-Star basketball game rosters were announced Tuesday with Myrtle Beach's Kayaurna Wilson the area's lone selection.

Wilson, a 5-foot-10 wing player, averaged 8.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Seahawks (25-5), who will try to defend their Class AAA state championship this Saturday against Greenville (21-6).

Wilson starred in the post-Christmas Taco Bell Classic in Columbia where in three games she averaged 14 points and earned all-tournament honors.

The North-South games feature the best boys and girls senior basketball players from South Carolina. The games will be played March 19 at North Myrtle Beach High School. Game times and ticket information were not immediately available.

Wilson and senior teammates Shatia Cole and D.J. Hunter have all signed to play at Coastal Carolina University.

Cole was named to the South Carolina squad for the 2011 Carolinas' All-Star Basketball Classic. That game will also be played March 19 and will be at Socastee High School with the girls set to start at 6:30 p.m. and boys at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the game. A slam dunk contest and 3-point shooting contest will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 18 at Myrtle Beach High School as part of the Carolinas' Classic. Tickets are $5 for Friday night's event.
