S.C. softball rankings, April 9

The Dillon-Waccamaw softball rivalry is starting to heat up once again.

On Thursday, the teams will play the second of their two regular-season games. Dillon won the first meeting between the  schools last week, when the Wildcats finished with a 3-2 victory on April 1.

Not surprisingly, the two teams remained ranked in the most-recent South Carolina state softball rankings, released Wednesday morning. Dillon was No. 2, while Waccamaw was nearby at No. 6. The two Region VIII-AA teams - who also played for the Class AA Lower State title last season - were the only two Lower State teams represented in the Class AA poll.

For the Warriors, they were also the lone Grand Strand team appearing in this week's poll.
