Play Ball !!!!

Like my fellow blogger I love going to ballgames. Tonight my son is treating me to a Pelicans game in Smmark one of the suites. I am almost positive that they won't have a nice pre-package meal of grilled chicken and 10 lbs. of broccoli for 5 points. However, they will have all kinds of my favorite things both edible and drinkable. Even with all of that I wouldn't mind sneaking in a foot long chili dog. To top it all off we weigh in tomorrow at our weekly WW meeting at work.

Here is my plan. Have a good time. Yep, that's it. That is my plan. Not too complicated. I have done well so far to the tune of about 20lbs missing and this is something I need to do for the rest of my life. This is where the balance thing comes into play for me in relation to being "on or off" a diet. So I plan to go out and have fun even though the scale will not like it tomorrow. Batter up.

Deprivation Dieter?

OK, I had to look that up when my wife mentioned that I may be one. I thought no way but I think she isSmmark  right. I tend to view losing weight as a black and white issue when in reality it is a very gray area. I always felt that I had to stay away from foods that I enjoy. I am learning that I don't have to cut them completely out of my life but change the frequency that I enjoy them. So I am not only working on eating better but trying to change years of a psyche that thinks I am either on or off a diet.

I believe that is why Weight Watchers works for me the best. It allows you to have those comfort foods (within a point allowance), teaches you portion control, better eating habits and you don't feel as deprived. Will it breed long term success? I hope so but changing many years of how I think about eating and weight will not happen overnight. The first step is self realization that will power alone is not going to get me to where I need to be long term. I have to think differently.
