Briarcliffe Acres prepares for TS Hanna

The Town of Briarcliffe Acres will be putting out today a 3-page instruction for its residents on what to expect from Tropical Storm Hanna, resident Bob Hock said.

The town's biggest concern is falling trees as the area has a lot of them, Hock said. "People are getting generators and chain saws prepared,'' he said. "If we get winds 50 to 70 miles per hour that will be terrible for us because of trees falling on houses."

In the past, the town has had to remove 300 to 1,100 tons of trees following a storm, Hock said.

The town now has a contract company to help with recovery, and the town will do damage assessment after the storm, he said.
