Spirit
Airlines, one of the first major airlines to charge passengers to check
their first bags, will raise the price of the first checked bag to $15
from $10 each way on June 20, an e-mail to customers said.
Other air carriers, such as American Airlines, United Airlines and U.S. Airways, have recently announced that they will charge $15 a bag for the first checked bag.
Spirit started charging $5 for the first checked bag last summer and
recently upped that to $10.
That fee only applies if customers purchase the right to check a bag in advance. At the airport, the price of checking a bag is rising to $25 from $20.
Spirit carries almost half of the passengers that fly at Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Good. If I only bring a carry-on with me, I'm still paying the same price as a person with 2 suitcases.
Go ahead though, try to stuff everything into one, and pay for the extra weight.
