Freestyle Music Park, formerly called Hard Rock Park, will open its doors on Saturday, May 23 at 11 a.m. for its second season, according to a count-down clock posted on the park's Web site.
Also Monday, the park announced that the park's premier roller coaster, which dropped the Led Zeppelin brand several weeks ago, would now be called "The Time Machine." A worker was seen on Monday afternoon painting pink a portion of the giant zeppelin where riders initially board the coaster.
One of five different songs from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s will be played during each run of the roller coaster, which the park said in a statement would provide "five unique ride experiences." The park said the coaster is the tallest and fastest in the Carolinas, reaching speeds of 65 mph and going as high as 155 feet.
The park's new owner, FPI MB Entertainment, have said they planned for a Memorial Day weekend opening. The company bought the $400 million park out of bankruptcy for $25 million in February after the park's original owners had to close shop due to a lackluster first season.
The park closed in bankruptcy last September.
When is the County re-naming Hard Rock Parkway to Freestyle Parkway?
Or is that also considered Goodwins "intellectual property" too?

They need to understand that you need more than 4 rides in a theme park in order to stay afloat.

Can we not have some positive comments like it's awesome that someone has taken over the park and is working hard to make it an attraction instead of just letting it become a pile of rust? Ever thought about giving it a chance instead of immediately being negative? It's a work in progress and I hope they become very successful.

Joey,
You need to understand that they already had 11 rides from last year and these 4 are just added this year, also it would take much longer then 3 months from which they bought the park to build something major not to mention the required time for testing a major ride,If the park does well and not too many people bash it, they may add some major rides for next year but they need the money and the intire winter's time to construct them, so enjoy the rides they have as well all the new changes.

Joey, the same people that "took over" the park are a couple of the original guys that swindled the $400M out of investors, filed bankruptcy within 5 months, then re-bought it for themselves for 8cents on the dollar.
You need to do some homework Joey, just as the Feds are doing.

Sorry, last comment was aimed at "positive please" and not Joey, didn't realize they put posters name AFTER a post and not before.

I wish them a lot of luck as they are going to need it. Success means summer jobs for HS and college kids. It also helps keeps the traffic on the south end.

Me, it's hilarious how you and a few select others are so "obcessed" with 2 of the original investors and claiming the Feds are looking into this as if they don't have much more "important" things in this country to be working on, It's as though you and those alike want the Feds to shut the park down before it even opens, putting a 1000 or so workers suddenly out of a job,not to mention disapointing many who are excited & looking forward to this park, well not you ofcorse.

I am glad to see the park reopening. It would of been a shame for it to just sit empty. It's an enjoyable place and the students at the schools where I work really do love it. The new pricing is a big improvement with a good incentive to get an annual pass.

Sueellen,
I recently read that they will have a limited locals discount thats $10.00 off the $39.95,it may be a "limited time offer" so check for details, also I read they are going to offer other specials&promotions along the Grand Strand. I wish this Park the very best for this season and years to come.
